Under Suse 11.2 if you have the deb package installed which provides dpkg the INSTALL script for nivisa included in nidaqmxbase-3.4.0.iso does not install any packages, nor does it give an error. The main INSTALL script for daqmx base then fails because of missing dependancies for its packages. The solution is to uninstall the deb package or temporarily rename /usr/bin/dpkg.

Is there a specific reason you are installing deb packages on Suse instead of using the rpm's?

Hi Tom,
This is a known issue, being tracked under Corrective Action Request #234799. We don't have a current estimate on when this will be resolved.

Our default SUSE build had the deb packaged installed to provide various debian specific scripts. We were still using rpm for packages. It's just that NI's INSTALL script detects both rpm and dpkg and is supposted to pick correctly and install with either or both present and it will print out "using rpm" when they are both present but then do nothing and claim success if dpkg is present.

Hey Tom,
We're currently implementing a fix for this issue in the tools we use to build our Linux installers. Each affected driver will need to rebuild in order to obtain the fix, so unfortunately I cannot give you a timeline for when all our drivers will work correctly in this scenario.
