NI 9219 variable excitation?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I have a NI cDAQ-9174 with three modules connected: 9219, 9263, 9211.

I would like to use the output excitation of the 9219 to control a power supply. I would like to set the ex. Between 0 and 2.5 V, but everytime I try it gives me an error and only allows me to set 2.5 (in full-bridge and half-bridge modes).

Any ideas?

Hello Marcus

Please send me a little example from your vi for a better understanding of your problem and to reproduce your error.

Best Regards

Hello,

From the limited info so far, It seems like you intend to use the 9219 excitation alone in order to control another 3rd party device. This is not the intended use of the 9219, and it might be difficult to do so. Also it seems that you want to excite the 3rd party device (power supply) at different voltage levels between 0V and 2.5V. This device can only supply very limited excitation levels at discrete intervals as seen in page 31 of the user manual.  These only apply for certain types of tasks as well. I suspect that another device such as an analog output module for instance or another device would be best in this application.

In summary: It looks like this is outside the scope of this device. Other C Series devices would be more suitable. More info would be helpful to determine the best route to take from here.
