Maximising/ increasing sample rate of analog input port on NI USB 6289

Hi! I am using a NI DAQ USB 6289 to do photonics IC measurement. The specification said that the maximum aggregated sample rate is 500kS/s, and since there are 24 analog input port, that means i can only utilize up to 125k/s per port (assume that I only use 4 analog input). And I would also need as many ports as I could. So, Is there any way that I can increase the bandwidth? Is it possible to achieve 500kS/s per port?

If i cant, would that means I would have to switch to using an FPGA?

Unfortunately, no, that is limited by the hardware design.

You need to buy a better hardware with higher sampling rate and switch to PCI or PXI based hardware for higher data bandwidth.

Hi there,

Echoing Santo's comment, if you want many analog inputs sampling at 500kS/s per channel, you'll have to upgrade your DAQ hardware.  If channel count is important to you, you can consider simultaneously-sampled DAQ modules.  This way you won't have to split up your sample rate between the number of input channels you want to use.

A good DAQ model to consider is the USB-6346.  It's a 8-ch simultaneously-sampled DAQ that runs at 500kS/s for every channel.  If you need more channels, consider the USB-6349.  Or for a more modular design, you can use a USB cDAQ-9174 with NI-9222 modules.
