Is it possible to generate an event when starting acquisition without interrupt mode?

I want to generate an event for my application when my card starts sampling with an external pulse. I have read that for generating events I must work only in interrupt mode. Is it true for all events generation?. Interrupts will slow a lot my app... I it must do a lot of work while acquiring

Unfortunately, there is a trade of when one is using events. Since the NI-DAQ driver needs to analyse every point acquired to be able to generate the event notification, DMA transfers are not allowed when programming Events.
