Please be specific. What device is connected to the port? This board is for NI data acquisition devices. Can we assume that you are using one of those? If so, you would first install the DAQmx driver. After that, it depends on what programming language you are planning on using.

What power supply (make and model)?  Some instruments will show up as serial ports when connected via USB.  Does yours do this?
