How to measure thermistor in SC 2042 with E series card

Hi All,

I am currently using a E series 6033 card with SC 2042 RTD to measure RTD sensor value and it works very fine. However, now i have another type of sensor, which is NTC thermistor with 25C / 50Kohm properties. I read from the manuel of SC 2042 and it claimed that it only support up to 8.5Kohm loading. So i am not sure can i still use 2042 to work with this new sensor?

If not, any alternative solutions?

Thx!

Hi,

You are correct, the sensor that you connect to the SC-2042 RTD must not exceed 50kohm.  The Developer Zone article here has a section that lists all of the various NI products that can be used with RTDs and thermistors. The SCXI-1102 used with the SCXI-1581 in particular provides for high-accuracy RTD and thermistor measurements with a maximum resistive load of 100kohm.
