Looking at the block diagram, it is unclear to me exactly how the NI 9211 powers the thermocouples when it is not connected to a power supply. Is it receiving power from the DAQ itself?
The thermocouple would be powered by the chassis when you connect the module to either a cDAQ or a cRIO. the 9211 cannot supply power to the thermocouple by itself, it needs to be in a chassis.
