How can a digital signal be triggered using daq 6216 ?

I have DAQ6216. How can I trigger a 12bit  digital signal using 6216 from an extenal source? However,I can easily trigger an analog signal using the same daq.Also, I found that neither the sample rate nor the number of samples can be changed when I take a digital input.

Can someone please solve my problem.I am in urgent need. Should I need to use a different DAQ for trigerring a digital data? If yes, which DAQ would be useful.
