DAQPad 6052E showing a constant 5 volts

Initially, the DAQPad reads a small voltage from the sensor.  Gradually, the voltage that the DAQPad reads ramps up to 5 volts and stays there.

What is causing this?  The voltage from the sensor should not be close to 5 volts.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thank you for contacting National Instruments!  It suspect that if the voltage is gradually increasing there maybe a floating input going to the AI channel.  Can you tell me a little more about your test setup?  What type of sensor do you have connected to your DaqPad?  Are you taking differential measurements or ground referenced measurements?  Also, can you try connecting a 1.5 V battery to your input and see if you observe the voltage rising as you were before?  If a constant voltage of around 1.5 V is measured over time, then I suspect the input connected to the DaqPad is floating.  If you have a DMM, you can also verify your sensor is providing the correct output voltage.

I hope this helps Chris!  Please let me know what you find!

Best Regards,
