Can a RTD be connected to a PXIe-6363?

Solved!

We recently purchased a PXIe-6363 Multifunction module, and I was wondering if it is possible to use with a RTD with a constant current excitation

Thank you,

Greg A.

You can use 6363's AI to measure the voltage across the RTD (with an external constant current excitation source).

You will be limited to the AI accuracy specs of the instrument and you can calculate the accuracy in terms of the temperature measured.

When I try to create a temperature task with the SCB-68A accessory, DAQmx suggests this connection.

But is it possible for the PXIe-6363 to provide that constant current excitation?

Thank you

No, 6363 does not have an internal resource to provide the constant current excitation.

Only dedicated temperature input cards have such resource and not multifunctional X series cards.

PXIe-4357 would be the right option, it comes with an internal excitation current.
