CDAQ9189: Device Identifier is invalid

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I have CDAQ 9189 chassis with NI 9205 modules. I have a problem in trying to read signals from various modules 'Mod1', 'Mod2' etc...

I currently read the physical channels as :

''cDAQ9189-1D8593FMod1/ai0:17,cDAQ9189-1D8593FMod1/ai19:31,cDAQ9189-1D8593FMod2/ai0:2,cDAQ9189-1D8593FMod2/ai4:20''

But I get an error as 'Device identifier is invalid.

The VI is attached.

Please help me in reading the physical channels.

thanks and best regards,

Santhosh

Hi Santhosh,

This error is most likely due to incorrect syntax. I notice that there is no space after the commas seperating physical channel names and ranges. I would add these spaces and see if it resolves the issue.

For further information on using the syntax correctly please refer to this KB: NI-DAQmx Syntax for Specifying Physical Channel Strings.

In order to avoid these syntax errors, it is often easier to use the browse function to select the required channels instead of typing them in manually. If the channels aren't visible here, it usually tells us that the DAQ device is not correctly configured in NI MAX.

Hope that helps!

Alice
