Bi-directional current measurement

Hi,

    I would like to measure the value of the current flowing through a load using NI PXI 6289 M series multifunctional board. Of course, I can connect a resistor of known ohm across the load and measure the voltage cross it . But since the current is bi-directional, I'm afraid NI is unable to measure such voltage. Any advice? Thanks

What makes you think that the board cannot measure a negative voltage?

A summary of the specs is at http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/04_4064_628x_MSeries.pdf and it clearly indicates the (bipolar) voltage ranges on the upper left hand side.
