How to communicate with Compax3 via RS232

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I recently purchased a Compax3 S150 V2 F12 I11 T11 M00 to use for controlling an MPJ motor from Parker. I have configured it and gotten my motor to turn and even ran some of the parts of a motion profile via the simulator in the Optimzation screen.

My goal is to control the motor via labview through RS232 but on Parker's website it says that for the I11 T11, "control is via the onboard inputs & outputs only. It cannot be controlled via serial communication." (link) The sales engineer from the company we purchased it from also told me that it would not be possible.

It seems to me that this is not true as people in this thread with I11 T11 have (seemingly) been able to control their motors via RS232 through labview. I have very little experience with any kind of motion control or digital IOs so any kind of help or validation would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to start coding!

Thanks,

John

Hi jfc212,

This thread is a month old and seems to be rather dead.  This seems worthy of creating a new post.  Please create a new thread for your issue, and feel free to reference this one.  Have a great day!

Any suggestions why the following doesn't work?

o1100.3=0

o1100.3=1

o1901.5=300

o1902.5=500

o1905.5=1

o1906.5=200

o1907.5=500

o1908.5=10000

o1904.5=$32

o1100.3=$6503

My I/O configuration is set to Free.  I checked the status using o1000.3 and it returns saying that the 'Axis powerless'.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi beegoi,

This is a pretty old thread and has been inactive for about 2 years so there is a good change the original people are not following this thread anymore. You will probably get a better response if you post a new thread and just reference this one.

Also, you might be better off contacting Parker tech support, since doesn't appear to be a LabVIEW or NI issue.

Hello GRK007,

Since this is an old forum post, you should create a new post to make sure you get an answer.

Cheers,

Ryan
