Which pins do I use to receive data from PDS ELITE RS485 with the PXI 8431/2?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello!

I am using the PXI 8431/2 to read out data from the PDS ELITE flowmeter (Modbus RTU). For receiving data, the RS485 protocol asks for pin 4 and 5, but this configuration does not seem to work. When I connect the RS-485 to USB converter from Microflex I do receive the data properly, so somehow between the pin lay out and the PXI there is this problem.

Can somebody help me out?

Cheers,

Steven

Hello Steven,

I think what Hossein was trying to send you is this:

How do I Connect and Configure a 2-Wire Device With RS-485

Can you also tell me a bit more what you are using to read the data? What environment. Do you have 2 wire or 4 wire Modbus RTU?

Hello Rik,

thank you very much! As I followed the link, we have shortcutted pin 4 with 8 and 5 with 9. Setting the it to half-duplex, the transmitter and receiver data can now go through the 2 wire cable.

Best regars,

Steven
