detect framegrabber (NI PCI-e 1429)

Hello,

I've got the following situation:

There are several pc's (around 50) that have an executable running our test-sequencer. Some of these pc's will be equiped with the NI PCI-e 1429 framegrabber.
Not all of these pc's have the NI-IMAQ component installed, only the pc's equiped with the framegrabber.

Since the NI-IMAQ is not always installed using these VI's the "claim" the framegrabber to detect it is not an option. These VI's are not executable if the NI-IMAQ is not installed, so the test-sequencer is not happy with that.

I tried accessing the MAX through activex to find the framegrabber but this is not documented by NI.

How can I detect if the framegrabber is installed?

Regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Maybe you could use the error generated when there is no camera.

See the attached VI.
