Vision builder for automated inspection

Hello, if I purchase 779799-35 (Deployment version of Vision Builder for Automated inspection), can I program in development NI Vision Builder 2015 for Automated Inspection and run it on a new version of Deployment?

Hi cmart,

A deployment license is used for running already-built applications, not developing new ones. Here's the quick version of our more in-depth Vision licensing document:

  • Vision Acquisition Software (VAS), aka NI-IMAQdx, is a driver only needed on a deployment machine where cameras are acquiring images.
  • Vision Development Module (VDM) Run-Time Engine (RTE) is a module only needed on a deployment machine where images already exist on the machine (or were just acquired by a camera) and need to be processed with machine vision functions.
  • There is no "VAS Run-Time" since the full IMAQdx driver that comes with VAS includes a "IMAQdx run-time" version within the driver.
  • One (1) VAS license comes with each NI Vision Acquisition hardware, such as a frame grabber.
  • One (1) VAS license will need to be purchased separately for each third-party camera.
  • One (1) VAS license is also included within each copy of a VDM RTE.
  • One (1) VDM RTE license is needed for each deployment machine, even if those machines are not running concurrently.
  • MAX is typically included within any NI driver software, such as VAS. Off the top of my head, I'm uncertain if MAX comes with VDM RTE since that's a module and not a driver.
  • Once a license is purchased for VDM RTE, upgrades are free for life when using your serial number.
