Using LabVIEW to perform 3D scans for real-time robotic guidance

Hi!

This is not so much a question, rather a cool demonstration what can be done with LabVIEW and 3D vision.

The link below is to a Youtube video that we posted from our recent 3D robotic guidance application.

We are using one of our high speed 3D cameras to scan in a 3D calibration target coming down a conveyor belt. Then LabVIEW & Vision is used to determine the 3D coordinates of the target in real-time. The objective for the robot is now to track the center of the target, which is prepped in a 45 degree angle with respect to the conveyor belt.

The coordinates are transmitted to a FANUC robot, which then homes in on the target while it is traveling down a conveyor belt. The pin in the gripper of the robot keeps a small distance to the center peg of the target for safety reasons.
