Odd and even field are very different from each other even though the object is not moving

hi,

even though the object I am imaging with an analog camera is not moving, I get lines that reminicent of an image of a moving object, where the interlacing of the odd and the even field causes double exposure. This is the most obvious in the areas of the image with a change from a dark to a light part.

One way to solve this problem is to only use one field and multiply the vertical enlargement by 2. But this way I am loosing part of the information.

the attachments give jpgs of
o the interlaced frame with a vertical expansion of 3  -> lines
o the even field only with a vertical expansion of 6      -> smooth image with less information

This problem started arrising when I changed from Labview 7.1 to 8.2, but using the older version of the program with 7.1 gives the same problems.

I am using a  PCI 1405 framegrabber with a JAI A50 camera

The sensitifity of the two fields seems to be different. Is there any way to correct this?

regards,
miethe

Hi Miethe,

I would say that this is a hardware problem, something with your drivers : when you updated to Labview 8.2, you got labview 8.2 drivers and cannot got back to the labview 7.1.

So now you have to fight to find the right hardware configuration :

check you have the latest versions of the camera files for your model, and update them if necessary.

To test if the problem comes from the drivers and camera file, run MAX : if you can get a good picture, it means the problem comes from your soft.

Cheers

Hi doc-doc,

thanks to your help I could solve the problem. I checked the drivers. I already have the newest driver: NI-IMAQ 3.7.

It turned out that I had not initialized for the right camera file in MAX. This is something I did when I first got the camera. The camera file got disconnected by updating to 8.2 . I selected it  by left clicking on your camera in MAX under the  IMAQ card and selecting  Open Camera and choosing the right camera file.

All the stripes are gone now and the problem is solved.

thanks again

Miethe
