Line fit with caliper

Hi, I'm a newb and I've got a little problem.

I'm processing an image with NI Vision assistant and I'm trying to make a line fit using caliper function.

How does this function works? I mean: the result is an angle and the deviation form the correct fit, but how has the angle been measured?
