Interface name of a camera

Hello everyone

What is the easiest way to find out the interface name of a camera?

The only way i know is clicking the right button of a mouse on camera icon in NI max.

But NI max doesn't give me a interface name of the camera because i don't have NI frame grabber.

Any way, Is there any other way?

And in case of usb3.0 camera, can i get a interface name without NI frame grabber??

Please help me.

-Which camera you are using?

-What type of camera you are using?

-What are your NI MAX and NI LabVIEW versions?

-Did you install Vision Acquisition Software, if yes what version?

-IMAQdx Enumerate Cameras VI will return list of cameras connected if that's what you are looking for.

Thanks

-Which camera you are using? -What type of camera you are using?

i used watec 902H Ultimate and this is an analog type. i think that anlaog type is not read in LabVIEW so i'm looking for a new camera. am i right?

-What are your NI MAX and NI LabVIEW versions?

i'm using 2015versions

-Did you install Vision Acquisition Software, if yes what version?

yes i have it and also 2015version

-IMAQdx Enumerate Cameras VI will return list of cameras connected if that's what you are looking for.

wow, thanks. i used interface name from enumerate VI but there is an error window poped up. is this because of my analog camera?

What error you got? Posting VI or snippet could help.

-Analog cameras are supported in LabVIEW as per my understanding.

-Since you told Analog camera, I think you should use IMAQ functions and not IMAQdx: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0564022DAFF513D2862579490057D42E

-Does the camera show up in NI MAX?

-You are able to capture images in NI MAX?

-How you have connected Camera  and PC?

Thanks

I attached my vi and 2 errors

-Does the camera show up in NI MAX? -You are able to capture images in NI MAX?

yes, it showes up in NI MAX and i can grab images in NI MAX.

-How you have connected Camera  and PC?

I have a frame grabber from sky tv(korea company) not a NI frame grabber.

My camera and frame grabber is connected by bnc cable.

I really appreciate your help!

-Could you post your screenshot of NI MAX along with Camera information tab.

-If in MAX, bus type is Directshow, you should be using IMAQdx. Can you post screesnhot of error what you got when you used imaqdx enumerate cameras?

-Sorry if i am confusing, because when you told analog camera according to here : http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/12892 IMAQ driver is for analog. I have never used analog cameras so i am not exactly sure which driver it is using.

Thanks

I am sorry, you are getting camera interface name right?
-you should be using imaqdx to capture.
What's the question?
Thanks

yes, interface name is correct.

if i run the vi i sent to you after put my camera's interface name, two errors happen as i sent to you.

then, do you mean that those errors happen because my VI is consist of IMAQ and my camera ni IMAQdx??

Yes. You should be using imaqdx hence interface error.
- replace with imaqdx functions and check if you still get errors.
