I want a thicker overlay line using oval overlay

I have added a oval overlay to an image. It seems that the line is only one pixel wide. I need a thicker line, e. g. 3 pixel to enhance visibility of the oval.

I used three oval overlays which have a wider rectangle each. This results in a thicker line, but is there a more elegant solution. The oval overlay function does not have a parameter for this.
