How do you set the brightness and contrast levels for image acquisition in C++ using the imgSetAttribute() function for the NI-IMAQ-1411?

I am using a NI-IMAQ-1411 card for image acquisition and have been unable to set the brightness and contrast levels for either "grab" or "snap" modes of acquisition. I'm using the function: imgSetAttribute (Sid, IMG_ATTR_COLOR_BRIGHTNESS,brightness);. When executing the program, a "memory cannot be 'read'" error is thrown. Anyone have any sample code for setting the brightness and contrast in C++??
