Genlock of 2 PCI1411.

How do I syncronize two PCI1411 boards with each other (or to an external source)?

GenLocking is usually reserved for sharing the timing information from 1 camera (usually referred to as the Master) to 1 or more other cameras (usually referred to as the slaves). Sharing the timing information will yield multiple cameras to acquire images at the exact same time.
- (Example RS-170 video) Without GenLocking the camera signals, you will as much as 1/30 of a second difference between images captured. The IMAQ board will wait for the next complete image, and if the camera just started a scan, then it will complete the scan and start over 1/30 of a second later.

GenLocking does not usually correspond to the framegrabbers. For the framegrabbers, you usually will trigger it to capture the next frame. This does not require the cameras to be GenLocked together, in
stead it will just capture the next full image from each camera signal.

You could have one board generate a trigger when it begins to acquire an image, and the 2nd board will read the trigger signal in for it to begin acquiring an image.

If you have an external source, you could trigger both boards to acquire the next full image.
- If the cameras are GenLocked, then the images should be scanned and acquired at the same time.
