Hello,

I am including the Hijackthis log from a Dell Inspiron 8500 running a Micropulse Lidar system . I am using TurboFTP to upload files every hour. If I leave the Ethernet cable unattached, all is well and the system runs reliably. If I have the system accessing the internet, the computer crashes generally within 24 hours. I locked down the computer by using TCP/IP filtering, allowing only port 21. That worked for about 10 days, now the crashing is occuring again. Any ideas?

Besides these NI services, are there any NI softwares running, such as LabVIEW or lookout?

If there are no NI softwares being used, try to stop service lkcitdl.exe, lkads.exe, lktsrv.exe from Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. I don't see LabVIEW or Lookout from the list. If the crash still exists without those NI serives running, I think it's not NI software's issue.

Usually the windows crash will pop up a dialog box to let you "send to microsoft", if you click "details", you will get which module or which dll crashes. This will help us to locate the problem.

By the way, why is the subject "nipalusb.sys"?

Hello Ryan,

It is titled NIPALUSB.sys because that is the file that is identified either on the blue screen or if I let Microsoft diagnose the crash. LabView and Lookout are not running as far as I know.

Thanks

Are there any NI softwares running? There are several NI products installed on this computer, so what are they used for?

The nipalusb.sys is from NI-DAQ. Is traditional NI-DAQ or NI-DAQmx installed? I suggest you to download and install the latest version. I found some known issues about the crash/blue screen with this file, it is supposed to be fixed in latest version.

Hi, in the hope you have email notifications set to on.  I'm looking for developers that have used LabVIEW to create LiDAR .las file format.  Can I ask what format you used with your LiDAR system.  Regards,  Brian.
