System freezing on Fedora 10, DAQmx 8.0.1f, PXI-8108 with PXI-6123

----------[System Information] ----------------------

Controller : PXI-8108

OS : Fedora 10 (default kernel)

DAQmx ver : 8.0.1f

DAQ devices : PXI-6215, PXI-6123 (2 set)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,

Our customer wants to use DAQmx function in Linux with PXI-8108 controller.

We try to install several Linux distributions such as SUSE linux (10.3, 11.0), Mandriva 2009, Fedora 9,10

We are success installation DAQmx on Fedora 10 without any action for install DAQmx.

But we met critical problem during Linux boot process which is freezing (mouse cursor is stopped, system is not responding any input) before showing login screen.

We found out that the problem cause by PXI-6123 plugged in PXI sash.

It is well working when we only use PXI-6215 in PXI sash.

How can we use DAQmx for linux in PXI-8108?

Anybody has success story with PXI-8108?

Thanks,

Kangwoo.ahn

If the system is freezing with Fedora 10 it is possible the system has crashed.  One possible reason Fedora 10 may crash with NI-DAQmx is that Fedora's kernel has a 4K stack and NI-DAQmx requires a 8K kernel stack.  It is possible that having a PXI-6123 plugged in may cause the kernel stack to overflow.

You mentioned that you tried some other Linux distributions like openSUSE 10.3 and 11.0.  Did you have any problems with these Linux distributions?  It would be easier to debug your specific problem if you tried an officially supported distribution like openSUSE 11.0.  That would help us to determine if the problem is Fedora specific or something else.
