Support for cDAQ (ethernet based) chassis in Linux?

After asking specific question on configuring my hardware with the new desktop Linux nidaqmx driver (see here), I realized that maybe, cDAQ ethernet chassis are not supported after all.

That was certainly the case with the earlier linux drivers like DAQmx Base. See for instance those posts:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Linux-Users/Setting-up-NI-cDAQ-9184-in-Linux-Environment/gpm-p/3462172

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Linux-Users/Support-for-ethernet-cDAQ-modules-under-Linux/gpm-p/3402640

Is this still the case with the new way nidaqmx is distributed on linux?

Pinging @Tom_W_[DE] (if this pinging works) as he seemed to have inside knowledge...

Best regards.

Hi Mat131,

NI released a new version of NI-DAQmx on CentOS, RHEL and openSUSE last year.

In the readme document for that driver it does list all supported devices. At a high level it is PCIe and PXIe products that use the NI-DAQmx driver at this time. NI expects to continue to release future versions of NI-DAQmx. At this time cDAQ chassis are not supported though.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and we have taken the feedback to find another place to list what HW works with this driver that is easier to parse than the Readme.

Let me know if I can provide further info.

Thanks for the feedback.

May I suggest to specify this very important limitation of ni-daqmx in the 3 major pages related to linux support:

http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/52786/en/

http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/54754/en/

http://www.ni.com/download/ni-linux-device-drivers-2018/7664/en/

as well as listing all cDAQ chassis in the ni-daqmx readme and explicitly saying that they are not supported.

Do you know if there are plan to get linux support for this hardware in a predictable future?

Best regards.

Hi @mat131,

USB CompactDAQ and TSN Ethernet CompactDAQ chassis are now supported in NI-DAQmx 19.1 for Linux (part of the July 2019 Linux Device Drivers suite).

Hello,

I see there is NI-9185 compatibility in this release: will the NI-9184 and NI-9181 Ethernet compact daq included in next releases?

Thank you in advance.
