suggested documentation update on Correlate and CorrelateEx

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I'd like to have the documentation of these two functions updated: right now it states:

Correlate:

This function is obsolete. National Instruments recommends that you use CorrelateEx instead of this function.

CorrelateEx:

National Instruments recommends that you use this function instead of Correlate.

However, actually none of them is recommended because one is supposed to use the function NormalizedCorrelate:

National Instruments recommends that you use this function instead of CorrelateEx.

Hi Wolfgang,

here I send you the documentation of the three functions:

correlate:                           http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051P-01/cvi/libref/cvicorrelate/

correlateEx:                       http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051T-01/cvi/libref/cvicorrelateex/

normalizedCorrelate:      http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051T-01/cvi/libref/cvinormalizedcorrelate/

I hope this helps you.

Best regards

Suse

Hi Suse,

I did not ask for the documention, but suggested a correction of the documention after reading it...

... because, if you read the documention of correlate, one would conclude to use correlateex.

However, if you read the documentation of normalizedcorrelate instead, the conclusion is not to use correlateex...

So my post was intended as feedback slightly improving CVI's documention Smiley Wink

Hi Wolfgang,

I wrote a request to the developers and they created a Correction Active Request (CAR). So it can be corrected in the next version of CVI at the earliest.

Best regards

Suse

Hi Suse,

thanks! It would be great if you could also draw their attention to this post, which unfortunately remained unnoticed by NI so far...
