Trouble compiling in "release64"/"debug64" configuration

Hello,

I have recently transitioned to Windows 7 and I am using the latest version of LabWindows/CVI (2010).

My code compiles properly when I set configuration to "release" or "Debug" (which I presume is for 32-bit systems). However, when I switch to "release64" (or "debug64) I get a bunch of load errors stating that it cannot find the 64-bit program file for my libraries (e.g., NI-IMAQ, Traditional NI-DAQ library, VXI library, NI-IMAQ I/O, NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394, etc).

If I check the measurement and automation explorer, it appears that I have the most recent version of IMAQ, IMAQ-vision and so on.

I have already looked through the NI folders under program files and I can't seem to find libraries specific for 64-bit. Is there a specific place where I should be looking?

Alternately, do I need to separately buy/download the 64-bit program files for these libraries?

Thanks!

Hi SripadRam,

Some of the drivers that we have at NI do not have 64 bit libraries. You have listed some of them here. If you are using any of these drivers in your code you will have to set your configuration to release or debug. If you are not using any of these drivers then you can consider the mesages as warnings.

Hello Perry,

Thank you for the reply.

How can I check whether a particular driver has support for LabWindows/CVI in 64-bit configuration?

Specifically, I would like to know whether a 64-bit version is available for NI-IMAQ, NI-IMAQ I/O and NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 libraries, and importantly, whether these libraries support LabWindows/CVI 64-bit configuration.

I did check the release notes* for the NI Vision acquisition software and the document does not explicitly say anything about support for LabWindows/CVI (except a footnote somewhere in the release notes about applications developed in other development environments are limited to systems with 3 GB or less of physical memory, does this mean support for only 32-bit configuration?).

Can you please clarify?

Thanks.

Hello,

I another question regarding installation of LabWindows/CVI 2010 in Windows 7. The installer selects the "program files (x86)" folder to install the Labwindows software. If I chose the "program files" folder, I get a message that 32-bit code cannot be installed in the program files folder as only 64 bit code can be installed there.

Does this mean that the latest version of Labwindows/CVI is a 32-bit code? if so, does this have any implication on how it compiles code for 64-bit configuration? Specifically, how does the installer deal with the installation of the various libraries some of which support both 32 bit and 64-bit configurations?

Thanks.

Hi SRam,

LabWindows/CVI is a 32 bit environment but it can still make 64 bit releases. As far as the IMAQ drivers having 64 bit files for configurations I will have an answer for you tomorrow as I am currently escalating it. Thanks for your patience.

Hello Perry,

Have you heard anything about 64-bit support of IMAQ driver for LabWindows/CVI?

Thanks!

Hello Patrick,

I am still waiting to get a response from you about the comatibility issue? Can you please let me know the status?

Thanks!

Hi Sripad,

I was able to speak to the team that supports the IMAQ driver. They informed me that there is no text based support for the IMAQ drivers. I will be filing a Corrective Action Request for the documentation on line. I will be asking them to explicitly say that there is no support for it. Thanks for your patience.
