I use LabWindows/CVI on a Windows 7 machine and recently installed NI-DAQmx version 17.0. Now I can't find NI MAX installed anywhere on my computer. The webpage: www.ni.com/product-documentation/53366/en/ clearly states at the top that NI MAX is included with the NI-DAQmx installer. Yet after I ran the NIDAQ1700f0Runtime.exe installer twice and rebooted each time there was no NI MAX anywhere. Then I came across webpage: https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z000000P9tuSAC which states, "The NI System Configuration package only contains MAX, the System Configuration API, and the NI Network Browser. It is the closest to a direct download for MAX. But after installing syscfg1700runtime.exe I still can't find NI MAX anywhere on my computer. Please reply with any thoughts or ideas you might have.

Hi skinnedknuckles,
Have you tried opening it from?
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\MAX
Try this:

If you don't find that folder. Try installing System configuration again using this:
https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z000000P8U0SAK
If neither work, I think the fasted way is uninstalling all NI software and reinstall from scratch. Reimagining the computer might be faster actually.

You are running "runtime" installers. I do not think runtime installers will install the MAX.
You need a full DAQmx install. This is the link:

Hey ebalci,
You were correct. I tried installing NIDAQ1700f0.zip instead of NIDAQ1700f0Runtime.exe and now I have MAX. I don't quite know the difference between the two files but the former one installed MAX as I needed.
Thanks

Runtime installers include necessary components for running the developed programs.
MAX is more like a development tool. Probably, you can run a DAQ progam on a computer without having NI MAX.
That's why it is not a part of the "runtime" installer. The link I provided is for installing the full development environment, with many components for many development tools (LV, LW, VB, C/C++, .NET, etc).
