How to make NI-CAN available in Library list in CVI

I have the menu item Libraries >> Customize > NI-CAN library box checked, and I loaded NI-Can 2.2, I can compile and run CAN examples,
but Library >> NI-CAN is not selectable, how do I correct this?

Hello Jeff,

The issue could depend on which user was logged in when NI-CAN and CVI were installed as documented in the following KnowledgeBase, or if you have multiple versions of CVI on your machine, the NI-CAN library files and functions could have been installed in another CVI directory.

Either way, you can manually add the CVI library to your list of libraries, by right-clicking on the library tree and selecting Customize Library Menu. From there, select Browse, and navigate to the location of your nican.lfp file. The file should be located under /National Instruments/CVI/bin/ for CVI version 6.0 and higher. Notice that the file name is nican.LFP instead of the usual .fp files. Once the nican.lfp file is added to the user libraries, restart CVI. Once you open CVI again, your NI-CAN library should be present.

Hope that helps.
