To understand these functions, you will need to refer to the Microsoft Excel Object Model. If you have Excel installed with VBA Help, you can get to this by opening up Excel, going to Tools >> Macro >> Visual Basic Editor. Hit F1 when the Visual Basic Editor pops up and that show let you browse the functions.

CVI just provides wrappers around the Automation functions of Excel. To learn more about these functions, you need to view the Excel help.
