The standard I/O window does not refresh when a program is suspended.
However, you can use the "Use console window for standard I/O when debugging" option to instead use the DOS console window which does refresh.
Alternatively, you can hit <Ctrl-R> to refresh any UI (including the standard I/O window) while you are suspended.
