Hi nolsgn,

As Mathan said please do not create duplicate threads.  However the quick answer to your question is yes.  The IMAQ driver can create, save, and manipulate AVI’s.  If you have a NI frame grabber then it should have come with this driver.  If not you can find it information about it at the following link.  NI Vision Aqusition

Hi nolsqn,

The software I was referring to are drivers and VI’s to use our framegrabbers within LabVIEW as well as others environments.  What National Instruments software and/or hardware are you using?  IMAQ dose not support the third party software you mentioned.  The advice I gave was assuming you were using LabVIEW or one of the other supported languages.

Hi nolsqn,

You do not have to use any hardware if you are trying to input an AVI.  But what I need to know is what software you are using?  You have mentioned both Matlab and Ivision.  Neither of the products are National Instruments and we do not support them.  If you are having problems with them I suggest you contact them.  If you are having problems with National Instruments software I can help you with that but I need to know what it is.

There is a great search utility on this site. I'm not going to give you the links. It's better for you to learn how to use that. Type in the search box on top of this page AVI, and in the resulting page you get there is a list of categories. You could go through all 425 entries in the Discussion forum category of course but looking at the 9 entries in the examples category would be probably the most effective way.

Thank you for your response Rolf.

nolsqn,

There are also some AVI examples that get installed to LabVIEW's Example Finder (Help > Find Examples... > Search tab) Search for the keyword "AVI" and take a look at the example called Read AVI Example VI.
