setting a default colour for front panels

Hi,

I have a very trivial prblem with LabVIEW. A little while ago, i decided i wanted to change the default colours in labview, so that

a) Coercion dots were red (although why this isn't the factory set default I don't know)

b) Front panel colour is not grey.

For some reason, the coercion dot is ok, but the front panel colour insists on being black, no matter how often i change it.

This is really starting to annoy me!!! Any ideas?

Trivial, but aggravating, if you haven't been "taught". 😃 All you need to do is go to Operation/Make current values default...then SAVE. I fought with this for days myself!

Hope this helps!

The default of gray was of course selected years ago when people's
screen resolution was a bit larger. With smaller pixels, it is easier
to spot them with a brighter color. Also, the coercion dots are placed
there simply for information. These implicit conversions are normally
not a problem, and many languages do not have any visible indication of
coercion or any warnings where they take place. So, the dots are meant
to be there for information, but for alarm. Of course you are free to
change the color to make them easier to spot if you wish.

I'm not sure I understand. If you open the Tools>Options dialog, select
the Colors page, turn off the default checkbox, and change the colors.
Selecting Make current values default has no affect on Options, but is
the correct solution if you have front panel color controls that you are
trying to give different default colors. You can do this via the
Operations menu or to individual controls with a popup>Data
Operations>Make Current Value Default.

If you still have problems, please list the version number and which
colors do not work.

The colour which wont behave is "panel and object" when selected for the front panel colour. I am running ver 6.1 on Windows.

Ahh. I think I remember hearing about that now that you mention it.
I'm not at a PC now, but I believe that has been fixed and will be
available in a future release.

Until then, the other fixed colors should work fine, but the
introduction of the symbolic colors was new to LV6.1 and a few spots
were missed.
