I have been exeperiencing the same issue for a while, I am using Labview 2010. I have Labview 2010 on a different computer and this function works. As an alternative to the problem I am following the same solution of dragging and dropping the VI from windows explorer. Any Idea why Select a VI is not working?
Thanks,
Mudda.

I had the same issue in LabVIEW 2013 and found out it cause by the "TEAM Viewer" thired remote application.
Try to close any other program that run in the windows background.

More specifically, it's most likely the TeamViewer file sharing overlay that is getting you in trouble. Usually disabling just that feature will set things straight.
