"average power"

do any1 have a vi that can calculate the average power. i am geting voltage from chanel 1 and current from channel 2. the vi must not use freq or any FFT when calculating the average power..  Can someone please help me

Multiply current by voltage, point by point, and sum, and divide by the number of points you want to average over. Choosing the last may be tricky. Normally this would correspond to an integral number of periods of the waveform.

No transforms, no higher math here.

Hi stickz,

The first thing we need to know is how the information available... in what shape..  humm.. how to describe this??

For instance, there must be transducers or something which measures the voltage & current and converts it to numeric format that you casn work with.
This numeric format, is it an array of numbers?  Since it must not use frequency or FFT, what are we working with?  The reason for asking is that are the numbers available in RMS?  Peak-to-Peak? already Averaged?  Are they measured by a multimeter which can offer values in any format, etc?

Sorry for asking so many questions, it is so that more appropriate advice can be given.
