Did you mean:

"Read delimited spreadsheed" stops at hyphen in string

Solved!
Go to solution

Dear LabVIEW folks,

as I am still at the very beginning of learning, my question might seem a bit stupid.

I want to read a spreadsheet and write it to an array.

For this I use the "Read delimited spreadsheed" function.

It works fine, except if there is a hyphen (minus sign) in a string, then the cell is not read to the end.

How can I fix this without changing the original data?

Thank you in advance,

Nortbar

PS: I really tried long to understand the issue, but couldn´t find the answer.

I can't open your VI, because I use an older version of LabVIEW.

I can say I can read your txt file without issues with "Read Delimited Spreadsheet.vi".

Question: Is your indicator long enough? The minus sign can act as a word wrap indicator.

Works for me. You need to pass a Space Constant as the delimiter.

I can't open your vi, like many people in this forum, because my latest version is LabVIEW 2021.

It works just fine. My guess is you just have a display issue. Try expanding your string indicators to show more characters. The hyphen is often used as a marker for word wrapping.

UliB and pincpanter are on the mark!

All I did was make the indicators wider:

The data is all there!
