"ES" on serial read and write

Solved!

Hello! I am using the Serial Read and Write example VI given by labview. When I connect it to my serial port, in the response section, it says "ES" after I run it. I want it to read numbers from a lab weighing balance connected through serial port. So what do I do?

What balance are you trying to talk to?  Could you link to the user and/or programming manual so we can see the communication protocol?

Hello! Thank you for your response. The balance I am using is a Mettler Toledo ML4002E balance. Attached is the manual! Thank you again!

The *IDN? is not a valid command for this device.  To get a reading you need to send "S".

By sending S, do you mean that my command should just consist of S?

No, not "just" S…

Read your manual for your balance! I can recommend to take a closer look at chapter 23.2!
