i would to know if it's possible to programmatically open two front panels of the the same v.i type but with the activity on one front panel not affecting the activity on the other front panel..for example like the way you would open two windows of a browser e.g chrome ....thank you

You want to open two instances of the same VI? That's simple. Just make the VI reentrant.

thanks but i dont understand the meaning of making a v.i reentrant..could you please elaborate?

Here is an example VI I made a while ago. Open Main.VI then click for a new window, or click and drag from the listbox. It just relaunches a new instance of a reentrant VI.

You will also need to select the reentrancy options for the VI that you want to open multiple instances of. See the attached pictures. The shortcut for it is Ctrl-I.

While this is not directly related to your problem, I think you would benefit from taking the online tutorials. The fact that you refer to vi's as v.i's leads me to believe your experience with LabVIEW is minimal.
Can someone post these links for the benefit of our OP?
Thanks!

thank you all very much..I would like to ask just a few more questions:1)how would you pass values to and from the clone VIs seperately?2)Is there a way of having the clone VIs have different title names when you open them so as to be able to differentiate them
