illegal name in MAX

Running Labview 6.1.  We had to upgrade from NIDaq ver 6.9 to ver 7.4 becuase of hardware replacement.  Labview 7.0 runtime files were were loaded.  After upgrades we cannot change the parameters in MAX becuase fomat of our current name is illegal.  The current name is SCXI-1.28.  If the name is changed to something shorter like SCX-1.28 the parameters can be changed but the name change breaks the program because of references to the old name.  This program was supplied to us by an outside firm so I do not have ability to go back and change code which references the old name.  Is there some kind of back door that I can change the parameters in MAX?

SpinTest,

There is no way we can disable these naming conventions.  This is not good programming practice to have this value hardcoded into the program.  I would try and talk to the creators of the project as this should be a very simple fix for whoever has the source code.
