A framing error typically points to a setting that is not right. Double check your serial settings.

1. 2 bytes is number of byte counted when reading (I did not set this)
2. I did try to set the input buffer larger 1045, but still reading only 2 bytes
3. Double check serial port setting but not much luck

I should've spotted this immediately.
The garbage returned in the VI should've prompted me to look at your hyperterm screen shot. The baud rates are different. Fix that and it should work.
