how to operate solenoid valves with labview? what i need?

Hello. I'm from Brazil an i must some help.I'm new with Labview.

I have to use four solenoid valves on an experiment that i'm doing for my master degree.

The first valve is normally opened and must open and close with a certain time, for example, after 5 seconds the valve closes, after 60 seconds de valves opens, and goes on with cycles.

The second is normally closed, it will open or close with a value of pressure ( i will use a pressure transmissor 4-20mA), this valve will "feed" my tank with air for controlling the tank pressure.

The third is normally closed, it will open and close with a value of pressure ( ( i will use a pressure transmissor 4-20mA), this valve will "feed" my tubing with pressurized air.

The fourth is normally closed, it will open or close with a signal for a level transmissor(4-20mA), this valve will "feed" my tank with water for controlling the water level.

Thanks...

What part do you need help with? The hardware or the software? If it's hardware, then you will need some sort of DAQ device. Which one depends on the solenoid valves that you have. What kind are they? What are their voltage/current specifications? As far as other hardware, what do you have available to you? Your best bet as far as picking the hardware is to contact your local NI sales office. If you don't have one, then you should call NI directly and an Applications Engineer can help you pick the appropriate hardware. In your case my guess is that you will probably want to go with one of the USB-based solutions.

One hardware suggestion I have is not to connect the DAQ board directly to the relays you will be controlling.  Instead, connect them to an external cheap relay first.  The cheap relay will turn the valve on/off, and the DAQ board will turn the cheap relay on/off.  The advantage of this is that it keeps the DAQ board safe (in other words, it's a lot cheaper to replace a cheap relay than it is to get a DAQ board fixed or replaced).  Voice of experience here.

Atenciosamente,
