finding instances of a shared variable in a LabVIEW project

Solved!
Go to solution

I am trying to upgrade an existing program (LabVIEW 8.6.1) that has many dynamically called VIs and the author used Shared Variables for exchanging data between VIs (I'd probably have used functional globals, but I have to work with what is here). With Shared Variables it is not possible to right-click > find all instances, and you cannot use Ctrl-F

does anyone know of a 'trick' or maybe a third party tool (LAVA or JKI maybe) that will return a list of where a Shared Variable is written/read within a project, or within VIs in memory?

HI Imd2,

there is already a tool to get what you want. Please see this link.

I see that there is a pre- LV8.6 version, and one for LV8.6.X (and maybe 2009) -

extremely helpful

I am in your debt

thanx
