find letter assigned to USB pen drive

Hi to all,
I need to programatically find out the letter assigned to a USB pen drive,
after I plug it (in a Win OS)
I've searched, but I haven't find anything useful.

Could you help me, please?

Hi Vix,

I'm not at all sure there is an easy solution.

If it were just a matter of spotting newly added drives - you might establish a list of existing drive letters on "first run", then check again as needed for newly appeared drive letters - but this would not spot a USB drive that was allready installed at first run, and would probably not be able to differentiate between other removable storage (CDs or floppies) either.

A clumbsy idea I know, but maybe better than nothing (or maybe not).

Mark.

The problem is simplier, I think:

I need to know how I can obtain a list of existing drive letters. Also some informations about which kind of device is every letter would be useful, but it's not essential.

Thanks a lot in advance

See this thread for a solution by Altenbach. Then base your decision on size of drive.
