I had wrote one program to control a motor. The motor will take only ascii characters lile decimal digit 100 as d. I 'am sending the program with this mail. But at the read end i need it converted to the decimal . But this operation is stalled due to some characteristic problem to the typecast. So can you please send me a help how to convert the ascii character coming out of the read to be decimal. please sent the modifications in labview 7i

yes , but I had not understand how they had converted the ascii character to decimal even in labview 2011, can you please sent met the step wise methodology for making such a VI. I tried but failed since that numeral indicator in U8 is not at all wiring with the string. So can you please sent me the clue for that.

The problem is that your "type" is a string containing the letter 0. It needs to be a U8 numeric diagram constant (the value is not important).

Did you even look at my answer in detail? Unless you are colorblind, the difference between pink and dark blue should be obvious.

You can right-click the U8 numeric indicator terminal and select "create constant" Wire this constant to the top of type cast.

but this works in labview 2011, but not in 2007. So what I have to do for that. I have only 2007 version of labview. So kindly send me the m,ethodology to proceed to get same result as 2011 in 2007. Please kindly reply

It works the same in all versions and there is no such thing as a 2007 version.

Actually, I am colorblind and the colors are sometimes not obvious to me.  But in times like that, I rely on the context help to tell me what the data type is.
