communication protocol

hi to all.
we have to  make a project for the university using a Fm reciver and  emitter we need to send a signal  between two computers wich will communicate each other; the communication will be half duplex.
Our teacher told us that we must use labview and DAQs , and the Ni elvis to do it  and that we need to create something like  a communication protocol in labview. We want to have control  over the  revolutions of an engine, when a number of revolutions be reached one computer will send a signal and  in the other computer  we will  decide what to  do . In other words one computer will be  like supervising the process ( that the revolutions of the engine be reached) and the other will be controling the whole process.Since i am  new  using Labview i don't have a clear image of this, i'll be glad if any of you can give me any advice or  a clue that can help me.
By the way i'm from El Salvador....

Have a look at this [broken link removed] for an example. You can also get other examples and tutorials by searching the site. You may also like to try searching for Datasocket.

To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here and here are a couple you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).
