coercion dot on FPGA I/O node

Hi, in a FPGA VI I have connected directly the output of a FPGA I/O node to the input of another module, as in the attached figure.

The input shows a red coercion dot.

I have three questions:

1) why this coercion dot?

1) how can I eliminate this coercion dot?

2) would this limit the resolution or the speed?

Forgot to add that I am using Labview 8.6, Ni-RIO 3.6 as software

and CRIO 9012 with FPGA NI 9111, and NI 9263 and NI 9205 modules

The AI is fxp 26.5, the AO is 20.5.  thus the coersion dot.  does not affect performance in this case. 


The 26.5 covers the potential range of the module across all of the module ranges.  this will vary by AI module.  the 20.5 covers the range of the AO.

Where is it possible to have access to this kind of information?

How could I check the property  of the fxp of the AI and AO?


Moreover when I click on the wire connecting the AO to the AI, it gives me fxp26.5, whereas according to your

information it should be the dimension of the AO: 20.5.

you answered half your own question already.  you determined that the wire coming out of the AI is fxp 26.5  the wire is always determined from the source, in this case the AI.  that is how I determined what type is was.  as for the AO, I did a "create constant" operation on the input to the AO to see what type it created in order to determin it's type.


I do not know if there is a comprehensive table that describes all these types anywhere but I just do what I described whenever I have that question.
