Hi GerdW,
Any chance of you posting a copy saved for LV8?  I was looking at Mike's posting and couldn't figure out how to get it to save the gif.  I haven't done any web VIs ... yet Smiley Wink

What an amazing resource this forum is!
Thank all of you who contribute.

Hi Jim,
there is no special function to save the picture, because if you see the picture in your browser it is already on your pc. Smiley Wink There is only a function to get it from the "temporary internet files".

Thanks GerdW,

I had a bit of trouble getting it to work, but in the process I think I took the RedPill.  I had no idea about the HIDDEN-hidden folders.  This led to some enlightening reading.  I'm still not sure why the program doesn't always work.  It seems that sometimes (most of the time actually) when it opens the browser the file doesn't make it into the temporary internet folder.  I'm still gnawing on that.  Thanks for the educational brain teaser Smiley Wink

Hi Mike,

very nice work! And now it got a decent icon tooSmiley Very Happy

One problem though: Dilbert.com changes the offset (2918) and path every week, at the moment it is:
"http://dilbert.com/dyn/str_strip/000000000/00000000/0000000/000000/00000/7000/700/7585/7585.strip.gif" for Dilbert of May, 12th... (underlined parts will change...)
Your version will only load strips of week 21.April to 27.April, the remaining ones are pictures prepared for filling in your own punchlinesSmiley Sad

Right now I know the first two "7" are linked to the file number 7585 (filenumber Q&R 1000), but I don't know how to guess the filenumber for next Monday (until now Smiley Wink).
When I have more news I will add them here in this thread.

Mike,

It works on my Mac as well. Just had to make minor adjustments due to different file structures.

Thanks,

Lynn

Hi Gerd and all other interested,
here is a new update. Now it is unimportant to know the number of the picture, because now i read it from the website. An disadvantage is that it only works for the current day, but if this is true "... from the web onto my harddrive every morning..." this should be no problem.

Hope it helps.
