activex events with LV6.1-timing out

I am trying to resond to an ActiveX event in LV6.1.  I am the writer of the ActiveX as well.

The Create ActiveX Event Queue occurs w/o complaint.  LV recognizes the existance of my event.

I execute a msgbox in my ActiveX procedure that fires the event, so  I know the event occurs.

However, the Wait On ActiveX Event always times out.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to trouble shoot this?

Hi sleeterd,

Have you left the ignore previous as the default? The help says "If ignore previous is TRUE (default), the function waits until the event fires. If ignore previous is FALSE and data is already present in Event Queue, the function returns immediately with the event data."

Also, have you set the wait options to Queued Mode in the Create ActiveX Event Queue?

This may explain the behaviour you are seeing. Also, feel free to post a .jpeg of the block diagram so I can determine if this problem is reproducible at my end.

I have tried both polarities for Wait Options and Ignore Previous, all cases time out.

I have attached a jpg of my block diagram

Thanks

Hi sleeterd,

You are still referencing an image on your computer. Here are instructions for posting an image to NI's server:

  • To insert the image into a post do the following:

    • Write your post as you would like it to be in its final form.

    • Attach the image that you would like to have appear in your post. Please use GIF or JPG files as they are smaller. GIF images are best if you are wanting to show LabVIEW code or Message Boxes as they are better at maintaining sharp lines.

    • Once your post appears copy the URL for your attachment.
Firefox: Right-click on the attachment and Copy Link Location
Internet Explorer: Right-click, Open in a New Window, copy URL from the New Window

    • Go to Options » Edit Message.

    • Now you can click the 'Insert an Image' button and paste the URL for the attachment as the source. The image should now appear in your post. Preview the post to make sure it appears as you would like it to.

Note: If the image is too wide you can go to Edit HTML and find where the image is and insert the string width=XXX where XXX is the width in pixels that you want for your image (typical values are 480 or 600)

    • Finally, resubmit your post and the image should appear.
