I am not quite sure if this is the right spot to post the following, but I think the following will nicley show the beauty of references. For the experts it might be trivial, but it might be helpful for others to discover the beauty of references...
We have to vi's one is a number generator and the other is suppose to display the numbers generated on the left. Both VIs are couple by a global containing the references to the waveform chart. After a first intialization of the global, that chart automatically update when ever the vi on the left produce a new random number - even if the vi on the right is not executing ...
